We did it. We sold our old house and bought a new one. We packed up our family of six plus a dog, cat, and two bunnies. We moved.
It’s been a ridiculously crazy summer – in fact, it hardly feels like we’ve had a summer at all. We’ve spent the summer making home repairs, then everything that comes with selling a house and buying one at the same time. And finally moving and unpacking. Not much room in there for going to the beach. And forget about blogging. There’s been no time at all. But that’s okay – we are settling into our beautiful new home and it’s all worth it.
Our new home may appear a bit smaller than our older house from the outside, but in fact, it has 2300 square feet and the layout is far better than our old house. There’s more closets and storage space. We have four bathrooms now compared to our old one bathroom. Hallelujah! I still feel like I’m dreaming when I walk into our incredible master bath and my gigantic walk in closet! Love, love, love! I will take more photos soon to show you all.
The only downside to the new house is that my kitchen is smaller than the old one., which is definitely an adjustment. But we plan on remodeling it (hopefully) next spring/summer so that will be exciting.
We have a huge font yard and back yard, a 300 foot long driveway (the kids are having a blast riding bicycles, scooters, tricycles, etc. all over) and best of all, we have over 2 acres of land! There’s turkeys, deer, bear, even moose back here. (We have yet to see any, but that’s what the previous owners reported.)
There’s a gorgeous little brook running through our land too and the kids love visiting it.
The dog goes swimming (oh yes, have I introduced you to Bailey yet?) and comes in sopping wet. Haha..
Here’s Bailey – our 4 month old Cocker Spaniel puppy. He has filled that huge void in my heart from losing Abby last fall and fits perfectly into our family.
Some days I sit outside on the porch in my favorite Adirondack chair and just breathe in the beautiful air and enjoy the sounds of the birds, crickets, and the kids playing happily (or sometimes not so happily) and can’t believe how blessed we are.
Blogging has obviously taken a very backseat to everything, but that was temporary and I’m easing back in. I’ve missed it!
The kids start school tomorrow. After years of homeschooling, it will be a big adjustment for our family. Nathan is in 6th grade, Emily in 2nd, and Joshua in kindergarten. Poor Luke is the only one stuck with Mom (he’s already expressed “Mom, I don’t want to be with YOU! I want to go to school!”) but at least Josh has half day kindergarten so that makes it a little easier.
Later this week, I plan on inviting you “in” for a tour of our house. I can’t wait to show you around!
